About Our Practice
Paul Papierski, M.D., LTD., is a comprehensive medical/surgical practice specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and diseases of extremities in patients of all ages. The physician at Paul Papierski, M.D., LTD., are specialists that perform hand surgery to improve or preserve hand function. Hand surgery procedures include treatment of traumatic and post-injury problems, arthritis, tendonitis, and nerve problems such as carpal tunnel, tumors, and congenital abnormalities. Our surgeons are trained in microscopic surgery, used to repair small nerves and blood vessels in the hand, one of the most complex parts of the human body. We also specialize in orthopaedic care and rehabilitation. Orthopaedic medicine treats diseases, disorders, and injuries of muscles, bones, and joints. Our daily medical treatment includes broken bones; general bone or joint diseases such as arthritis; hand, wrist, and shoulder problems; sports injuries; tumors; and other bone, muscle, and joint ailments. Surgery is only one option for orthopaedic conditions, but we usually reserve surgical procedures for serious cases if such cases do not respond to less-intensive medical treatment. Depending on your diagnosis, we may be able to use braces, casts, physical therapy, or medication to treat your condition. Just as no two people are exactly the same, no two ailments or injuries are alike, either. For this reason, we may conduct a series of tests or x-rays before we begin treatment. Your unique condition and personal needs always guide us in choosing methods of treatment that are right for you. You are a key player on the team that is working to make you well. Often we find clues to our patients’ ailments just by listening, so we encourage your questions and concerns. Ask us anything that you feel is vital to your full recovery; there are no frivolous questions. In our experience, we find that when patients take an active part in their own diagnosis and treatment, their condition improves much faster.
